Devin “Trek” Thomas obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Capital University and studied at Otterbein University for his teaching licensure as a K-12 intervention specialist. An educator by day, and a musician by night, Devin has been dedicated to changing the lives of individuals young and old from an early age. Integrating his love for music and his love for education, he has spoken at numerous schools and conferences over the years. His presentation “New Day, New Energy, New Focus” focuses on not just preparation for student and staff, but also the preservation of creating a healthy and fun learning environment for all within the classroom.

JC Pohl

 Topic: Building Resilient Students

 JC Pohl is an award-winning producer, author, nationally recognized speaker, and certified counselor who has reached over 12 million people in 8,000+ schools. He has produced groundbreaking programs such as TEEN TRUTH and RISING UP, and award-winning content for companies such as Warner Brothers, ESPN, and Disney. He has also provided innovative educational content for The American Film Institute and Human Relations Media. JC has a mission to teach students to build resiliency in the face of adversity!

Dr. Rebecca Harper

Topic: Write Now and Write On: Engaging Literacy Strategies for All Students.

Dr. Rebecca G. Harper is a Professor of Language and Literacy in the College of Education and Human Development at Augusta University where she teaches courses in literacy, qualitative research, and curriculum and literacy.  Her research focuses on writing and critical literacy, and the ways in which authentic literacy can foster engagement, agency, and empathy in students. She is the Director of the Augusta University Writing Project and the author of Content Area Writing that Rocks (and Works)!, Write Now and Write On: 37 Strategies for Authentic Daily Writing in Every Content Area, Writing Workouts: Strategies to Build Students’ Writing Skills, Stamina, and Success, Literacy Practice in Sports and Coaching: Developing Literacy Competencies in Interdisciplinary Environments, and Write From the Beginning: 42 Joyful Lessons to Foster Skilled Writers Every Day.
